Meditation

Whisper of the Muse -  Julia Margaret Cameron

A photograph is a secret about a secret.  The more it tells you the less you know.
Diane Arbus

Meditation

Away from human noise, the cough, the sniff, the clearing of the throat.
The ticking of the ever-present clock.
Depart from the mind, a sometimes lifeless place, where all is brash,
bereft and Belsen-like, where no birds sing at all.
Seek out the spell, or speak a heartfelt prayer for long-forgotten love.
Until then, listen less, relax and go towards the far and distant place called home,
to the heartbeat of the womb, to past times, rhythmical and raw,
to a land where birdsong resonated with the silver bells of angels.
Now at last all is quiet.
Peace.  Like a cathedral.

Truly beautiful.

I am intrigued by the Arbus quote and want to ponder it.

Your meditation poem is quite fine, and really expresses what I feel when I go to find my soul. Yes, a womb, a cathedral. Perfect!

Dear Cait,
Well said. How we need to retreat a little from the world's busy-ness.

Beautiful words.

Sadly too much coughing and sniffing in this house at the moment as we're all full of cold!

Beautiful poem, Cait. It is so difficult to find that perfect womb-like, cathedral-like hush...

I like the pairing of Cameron's photograph with Arbus' words too.

Thank you.

Lovely meditation poem. I find that my life gets too busy, and I seek a quiet place where the only sound is the snoring of my old dog.

This is really lovely word crafting. Beauty in every line.

The photograph is a small miracle, I had not seen it before.

I hope you have the peace to meditate often, if this is what evolves from it.

Right about now I wish for that sort of peace. A cathedral - what a beautiful thought.
