Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.
Let it be, let it be, .....
And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, .....
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.

Sorry I have been absent for a while, I have been busy with family visitors and very enjoyable it was too even though the weather was not on its best behaviour.
While relaxing on the sofa last night I enjoyed a journey back into my past as I watched the programmes on BBC2 that were part of a BBC radio and television tribute to the Beatles.
The Beatles were the background to my teenage years, to my growing-into-a-woman years. I bought every one of their records, their photos adorned my bedroom wall and there was always one stuck under the desk of my lid at school - I could never choose between McCartney and George Harrison though nowadays George would be the winner, God rest his soul.
They had several good 'quotes':
Money Can't buy me Love
All You Need is Love
Give Peace a Chance
Let it Be was their last single, probably one of their best and definitely one I would take to my Desert Island. I tried to post it for you but it would not work so instead I have posted In My Life which is another favourite of mine.
Enjoy.

Very good - I sometimes wonder if my children's era will have the equivalent of the Beatles; somehow I doubt it.
I agree with Mark, there doesn't seem to be anyone of the same 'standing' for want of a better, more relaxed less formal word. Though no doubt his children might disagree!
I'm sure my parents shook their heads at the Beatles, thinking that there would never be anything like the 'Big Bands' of their era for their children to remember.
Another really good post, Cait. I love the quotes you've been putting up lately in the PC - some thought-provoking, some just plain lovely.
They are genius. And they changed the culture. I don't think we shall see their like again, do you? My husband actually decided what he wanted to do with his life in that seminal moment watching The Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 1964. Music and songwriting, and he's never done anything else. He also saw them live and has his ticket framed!
Hope you're glued to 'Beatles week' on the beeb!
I love your header - one of my most favourite pictures! Great to have discovered your blog, and your ambition re good news. There is something so haunting about Let It Be - such a great song.

Ah Cait, how I thank you for this beautiful tribute that very fab four.
I'm a bit older than you, so they played in a slightly different background in my life.
How I do treasure those years. I agree with you that George was the secret gem, yet I always loved John's being outspoken. (His home in NY was near here, and I will always remember seeing him carrying a bag of groceries home, just a week before his death.)
Remember once years ago, when a much younger friend tried to tell me that Talking Heads were definitely as influential as the Beatles. Oh my....

Oh Cait,
I don't know if I'm a bit morbid or just a bit of a control freak but I've done some thinking about the songs that I want played at my funeral.
'In My Life' is part of the plan and will be dedicated to my children. It's always been a favorite song and I've pondered through the years as to which of my loves it brought to mind. But, once I thought of it in connection with my son and daughter- that cinched it. Now, whenever I hear the song with its simple melody, it brings a tear or two to my eyes.
I loved seeing the photos of the lads in that clip. They were so young and George was always my favorite.
I remember with fondness of the wonderful Beatles, bought all their records, I have even got their original Abbey Road in it's sleeve cover from all those year ago.
Yet another lovely post Cait, and thank you for the Video.
xx
