One of my favourite quotes by one of my favourite writers:
Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.
Maya Angelou
A favourite song, a poem:
Love Minus Zero/No Limit
My love she speaks like silence,Without ideals or violence,
She doesn't have to say she's faithful,
Yet she's true, like ice, like fire.
People carry roses,
Make promises by the hours,
My love she laughs like the flowers,
Valentines can't buy her.
In the dime stores and bus stations,
People talk of situations,
Read books, repeat quotations,
Draw conclusions on the wall.
Some speak of the future,
My love she speaks softly,
She knows there's no success like failure
And that failure's no success at all.
The cloak and dagger dangles,
Madams light the candles.
In ceremonies of the horsemen,
Even the pawn must hold a grudge.
Statues made of match sticks,
Crumble into one another,
My love winks, she does not bother,
She knows too much to argue or to judge.
The bridge at midnight trembles,
The country doctor rambles,
Bankers' nieces seek perfection,
Expecting all the gifts that wise men bring.
The wind howls like a hammer,
The night blows cold and rainy,
My love she's like some raven
At my window with a broken wing.
Bob Dylan
A song that always lifts my spirits:
The Travelling Wilburys.
The End of The Line (with dear George Harrison, God rest him).

What to say? The lovely Kitty, your beautiful red door, the perfect Maya Angelou quote and then words from The Man himself (a glorious song), topped off with TW video. What a treat of a post. Thank you!:-)
Been catching up on your blog Cait, what beautiful pics your daughter took and I love your back door, especially the knocker !!
If that's your back door Kitty, how lovely is the front door?

Wonderful photos, your back door looks so very inviting and wouldn't they all make lovely cards.
We haven't had many butterflies in the garden this year, think it's been a tough year for them again.
I want to come in through that intriguing door. Now, a photo of the front door?
Wow. Great post. A bit of everything and so enjoyable!
Bits and bobs, and wonderful they are, Cait!
Thank you for lifting my spirits tonight (bit of a hard day earlier.)
Did I ever tell you that I went to the Concert for Bangladesh that George Harrison organized. It marked the first return to the concert stage by Bob Dylan, and all of us in the vast Madison Sq. Garden thought ourselves lucky to be there, and also good to have contributed to a cause.
Well, decades later, I am fortunate to know a beautiful lady born in Bangladesh, but who had no idea who George Harrison was, until I told her.
It's all right...

Pictures like words, words like pictures. Thank you for sharing.
Stunning red door!
Crawl into the space between the notes?! I love that.
Thank you so much for stopping by my place today and hope to see you again very soon. We have much in common.

What beautiful photographs, Cait. Kitty is gorgeous! A brilliant, uplifting post - a great start to my day. Thank you :-)
I love the glimpses into your life, Cait, what a sweet face your dog has, too. I always feel it's like taking time out visiting your blog and feel a bit frenetic in contrast. I did plan to escape to the country but lately I feel as if everything followed me.
Cait
I visited your blog a while back and knew I wanted to keep returning - then I couldn't find it! So glad I've found it again, it's bookmarked now.
Kitty is beautiful, her eyes speak of happiness and contentment.
Love the red door, love the besom as well.
Beautiful and thoughtful, Cait, as ever. I love those peaceful pictures of lavender with butterflies alighting on them, and I'm always interested in your choices of songs and words.
"Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.Maya Angelou" so very true. Great pics BTW. Have a grand weekend Cait TFx
Dear Cait,
Oh such gorgeous pictures, and I love the picture of your dog Kitty, what a beauty she is, love your pretty red back door too.
I have a book by Maya Angelou Poems, she is one of my favourite writers too Cait.
I have been a fan of Bob Dylan for as long as I can remember, the lyrics he writes are so meaningful, makes you stop and think.
Great song by The Wilbury's, but so sad that George Harrison is not with us anymore.
I marvel at your slideshow Cait, the pictures you have captured on it are wonderful.
xx
