Karma

Karma

She climbed.
By a series of degrees, karma-driven,
her  life was destined to be a rough and tough
ascent. It was hard, lurid, scuffed and careworn
from the start and she had lived it on the edge.
Not one to push herself or ever let
herself be pushed, she knew not how, or had
the cause to fly.  Agéd now and scared to
die alone, her longings are like dreams whose
intensity is strong but like her fateful
journey are too high-coloured, dramatic,
overstated in their indemnity.

Indemnity is such an interesting word and i love that you were able to use it so perfectly here. This poem made me sad, well, I already was a bit and this sort of added the exclamation mark. I don't know that I'm afraid to die alone, but perhaps I am more than I wish to admit to myself even. Looking back, it seems my life has been Very karma driven. Perhaps it's more my perceptions I've accepted, but there it is ... another poem I can relate to very much. The image is perfect.

Like Teresa, I was intrigued by your use of the word "indemnity." I still haven' entirely sorted that out.

In the meantime, please be careful to not run over your dogma with your karma.

Blessings and Bear hugs!

It is the intensity of the indemnity that startles me !

Most sad when one had reached a point of no return at an age where it was difficult to stay alive decently! Nicely Cait!

Karma or destiny..either way rather sad to die alone..

That's sad. I found the image certainly dripped a sense of the elderly.

I felt a series of tiny weights added with each word, Cait. Nicely done.
