I only collect a few things:
Images and photos of washing lines for one.
I thought I was peculiar in that but a lot of people seem to appreciate them too.
I have given up taking photos of other people's washing for fear of being arrested.
(I also love hanging out washing. I wonder what that says about me?).
I take photos of gateways lately, not very original I know, but I have started so will have to finish.
Bookmarks. I have a shoebox overflowing with these, they are hard to display though.
Words which I may catch 'on the wind', that resonate with me, are melodic or sweet sounding, words like deft,capsized, soothsayer, these just happen to be the latest three words in my little black book.
I also collect Wise Words and Quotations, I have reams of those, piles of journals littered with them, all collected over the years,

Cait, I also love seeing clotheslines with laundry and love hanging it out, which I do for at least six months of the year ... all of it. A few days ago, I hung out sheets for the last time this year. It made me a little sad ...

Cait, my city life prevents me from the pleasure, remembered from childhood, of hanging laundry outdoors on a line strung between two stout trees.
Thank you for prompting some fond memories. In some chillier months, I recall wet sheets froze in their billowing shapes.
Perhaps nowadays I might be considered to be a collector of yarns. (Both fibre yarns and story yarns.)

I miss the scent of clothes fresh off the line. Cannot hang them out here. Reminds me of a poem by Seamus Heaney.

Great post Cait, I love washing lines too, there is a great joy in looking at a line of laundry and I particularly love the smell of outdoor dried laundry. I love photos of hand knitted items too and am guilty of collecting them, big hugs, Margie ❤️

I used to collect images of washing too! In fact one of the images of billowing washing (a card) was purchased in a gallery in Wales, Newtown I think.
My interest then changed to 'windows' and now to more nature-based collections.
I've collected many and varied pieces of rust for fabric dying, and I have a book started around twenty-five years ago and still add to, full of quotes ...the pages are yellowing at the same rate as my teeth by now!!

Like you I keep quotations - trained up by my mother from a young age! When I was about 10 I started collecting paper napkins!! It only lasted for a few years, but when I got married, my father presented me with box loads of them that had been stored in their attic. These days I try not to collect anything as I am surrounded by clutter, but I find it hard to resist tiny, tiny things - dolls house things that are just perfect. And plants. I'm a terrible garden-centre-aholic. And mugs. Mugs!
