A Meme
One of my favorite
things
is solitude.
Outside my window it’s dark; a night owl’s delight.
I am thinking
detachment must be the order of this night.
From the kitchen come the sounds of silence and the
distant echoes of a chime.
I am wearing layers and layers to keep me from
the cold.
I am reading the life of Edna O’Brien who
weaves her words with magic, beauty and mysticism.
I am hearing a voice, a sigh.
I am hoping all will be well.
Around the dimming room are swirls and curls, reflections from the bamboo shades.
I am going to linger awhile on my creation.
I am creating a dream,
I am thankful
every moment for so much, so much, so much.
Here is picture thought I am sharing.
Do share your thoughts in words and pictures too.
Mmmm - beautiful picture of where you are just now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely prompt...it lends itself to poetry. I may have to take you up on the challenge. Yours is perfectly wonderful. I love that you are creating a dream.
ReplyDeletewow. i felt like i was there---especially with the quiet chime coming from the dark kitchen.... so nice.
ReplyDeletei have that new edna o'brien memoir, too. looking forward to digging into it.
I enjoyed reading this Cait.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the invitation to share and participate with this... around early a.m. for me.
So thoughtful and so lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precise and apt response.
Please keep warm!
This is remarkable, remarkable in the word play and in the effect it had upon this reader. Quite brilliant.
ReplyDeleteCait, I feel very fortunate right now to have read A Meme and the poetry in the previous post.
ReplyDeleteYou are very generous to those of us who visit here.
Thank you. xo
A very moving and heartfelt meme and so creative. I think I will also try to create my own...you have inspired me greatly. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful. And a wonderful, creative challenge.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a lovely meme, does it have a time limit? It’s on of these reflections we should all slow down towards at frequent intervals.
ReplyDeleteI would love to do this for myself, is there an originator I would have to mention? You?
It’s a lovely image of Cait at peace.
I'm visiting from Vee's. Your words were very moving. Just lovely. As I said in my comment to Vee, I'll have to try this meme sometime.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
Oh, I love this. Maybe I'll have to give it a try too. Thank you.

Well it took me all day and I don't know if I did it the way it is supposed to be done because I was very graphic and sentimental but I just finished creating my own meme.
ReplyDeleteTell me what you think Cait if you have a spare moment.
Thanks,
Kathleen

sharing the word MEME with my high school English students. I may do this exercise with them. My friend PODSO ( blog) sent me to read this so I am glad to meet you. I will also look for Edna O'Brien.
ReplyDeleteHello Cait...I'm not sure if you got my update but I just wanted you to know that I made a brand new page on my blog for my meme

It took me a while to figure it out but you shouldn't have any trouble finding it now. Sorry about that.
How beautiful. I "discovered" you by way of Ursula. Thank you for sharing your wonderful writing.
ReplyDeleteSomeone next to me was blowing out a sigh as I read this, so it was a little surreal reading about the sigh. Horrible of me, perhaps, but I thought of an old Skittles commercial when I looked at the picture. ~Mary
ReplyDeleteps came over from Friko's blog.
Found you via Friko's blog, which is also new to me.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed "meeting" you both very much, and I like the meme, too.
=)
