Snapshots

There is Another Sky

There is another sky,
Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields -
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!
Emily Dickinson

  2. Cait, I have a confession. Every time you do one of these marvelous country strolls, I just have to save one as a desktop. I hope that you don't mind...but do tell me if you do! I want this last one ... in fact I just want to stroll right into it for the rest of the summer. It is so hot here.
    Kim, let me know when you are ready to go!

  4. Love the 'fairies asleep' picture, that ties in so well with your Yeats quote. Yet I've always thought of fairies as folk who never sleep in their urgency to weave new mysteries around the enigma of creation.

  6. Can there be a better place to live than yours? Or mine here at this end of the marches? In fact, aren't we the luckiest people? Perhaps we have been kind to the fairies and this is how we are rewarded.

    I love Emily Dickinson's poetry too, and will re-read her over and over.

    Cait, may I ask you to add yourself to the follower's list on my blog? An official acknowledgement as it were of the fact that you have me in your blogroll. Silly, I know, but there you are.

  7. Sorry I have been absent so long.
    Your garden is a magical delight
    especially from hot, not very green New York.
    So glad to have made contact again!
