A picture and a poem, That's all for now.

The picture is Disappointed Love by Francis Danby, an Irish painter (1793-1861)

Here is an Irish poem I love, more famous now as a film bears its name.

The Wind That Shakes The Barley

There's music in my heart all day,
I hear it late and early,
It comes from fields are far away,
The wind that shakes the barley.

Above the uplands drenched with dew
The sky hangs soft and pearly,
An emerald world is listening to
The wind that shakes the barley.

Above the bluest mountain crest
The lark is singing rarely,
It rocks the singer into rest,
The wind that shakes the barley.

Oh, still through summers and through springs
It calls me late and early.
Come home, come home, come home, it sings,
The wind that shakes the barley.

  1. Good Evenin Cait. What a beautiful painting and poem. I love to access your blogs at the end of the day.
After reading the poem I googled the film of the same name. It hasn't had much press over here, but I'll look for it now.
When I was away last week I opened your blog to listen to the music. I'll have to figure out how to make myself a play list one of these days!
